Oduduwa President Asiwaju Akinpelu Retires

SOUTHFIELD, MICH. The president of the Oduduwa Organization of Michigan, Mr. Femi Akinpelu, will be retiring from his duties as he relocates to another state in the USA. The Asiwaju will be handing over his responsibilities to his Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Elizabeth Omisope, now Vice President of the great organization. A farewell get-together was hosted graciously by the wonderful family of Mr. David Williams in Southfield, Michigan, it was quite a memorable event with great speeches both in Yoruba and English, delicious food and laughter.

Mr. Akinpelu had made significant progress on behalf of the Oduduwa organization during his tenure as leader/Asiwaju. He has proposed and presented a number of initiatives and projects to help move the organization forward and preserve its legacy, heritage and traditions. Fondly referred to as “Oluko” (teacher) by Madam Bola Ojomo, she wished him great success in his new abode and declared that “a cloud of protection has gone ahead of [him] to prepare his journey.” Mrs. Omisope moderated the event as Dr. Ayorinde led in prayers for Mr. Akinpelu.

Also in attendance are Dr. Salewa Ola, Chief Ayo Akinlua, Mr. Dapo Williams, Ms. Sola Obayan, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Ajayi, Mr. Shola Salako, Olukemi, children of the Asiwaju: Oluseyi, David, Samuel, Adetutu and Abiola.
